Dear Parent/Carer,

As we conclude this short but impactful half-term, I am proud to reflect on the many opportunities our students have embraced. We ended the half-term with a wonderful display of Optimism and Hard Work, bringing the entire school community together to raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer. I’m delighted to share that we exceeded our target of £1,000 by raising an impressive £1,750.39—a result that highlights the generosity of our students and families.

Year 11 GCSE Exams

Our Year 11 students have demonstrated great Tenacity and Hard Work as they began their GCSE exams. Their commitment to our before-school, lunchtime, and after-school booster sessions has been outstanding. I’d also like to recognise the Respect shown by our Year 7–10 students, who have moved quietly and thoughtfully past examination rooms, enabling their peers to do their very best. Please join me in wishing Year 11 continued success as they complete the final stages of their exams after the break.

High Expectations

As we pursue our vision of World-Class Learning Opportunities for All, we are committed to maintaining the high standards that help each student reach their full potential. These standards reflect the TORCH Characteristics and are key to our shared success. Thank you for your support with the following:

Punctuality – Hard Work & Respect
Students should arrive at school before 8.25am and be seated in their Tutor Room by 8.30am, ready to start their day with focus and Tenacity.

Uniform – Respect & Pride
Students are expected to wear their full uniform, including blazer and tie, from the moment they enter to the moment they leave the school through the Main Gate. Grey shorts are permitted as part of our summer uniform.

Equipment – Preparedness & Curiosity
Students should be equipped each day to engage in learning. This includes:

2 x black/blue pens and 2 x red pens or 2 x assorted colour Bic pens

1 x pencil

1 x rubber

1 x ruler

1 x scientific calculator (KS4)

The Respect and Hard Work shown by our students, alongside the Optimism and Tenacity of our staff and families, continue to make The Suthers School a place of genuine achievement. Thank you for your continued support.

Wishing you and your family a safe and restful half-term.

Kind regards,
James Griffiths

Mr Griffiths, Mr Lamb, Miss Jones and Mr Richards got very wet in the Soak the Teacher competition, raising a brilliant £100. Our students took great pleasure in throwing the sponges.
