|Exclusions arrangements||We reserve the right to use exclusion from school on either a fixed-term or permanent basis. Decisions to apply this sanction rest with the Executive Headteacher and Head of School. Exclusion is a serious sanction and must be reasonable and proportionate. Careful consideration must be given to the nature of the incident and full account taken of the student’s age, any special educational needs or disability they may have and any religious requirements affecting them. The indicative sanctions table indicates the type of incident that might warrant exclusion, but the list within the table is not exhaustive. Reintegration meetings should always follow a period of fixed term-exclusion.|

Parents and other members of the public can find out more about the curriculum we offer by visiting our Curriculum page.
|Curriculum approach||Our curriculum covers all national curriculum subjects and delivers a broad and balanced experience for students. Options are chosen in year 8 so that all GCSE option courses begin in year 9.|
The curriculum in each year group supports the delivery of social, moral, spiritual and cultural education (SMSC) as well as the promotion of British values.
Every Monday to Thursday, the longer day is used to support our compulsory study support and extra-curricular sessions. The LAMDA Schools Award is delivered during one lesson per week in years 7 & 8 and all students have one reading lesson per week during which they follow the Accelerated Reader Scheme.

Values and Ethos
|Values and Ethos||SAPIENTIA - SCIENTIA - AEQUITAS|
Wisdom - Knowledge - Fairness
The Suthers School has a very clear and distinctive ethos. Our culture aims to develop highly aspirant students and is centred on our passionate belief that every child can succeed.
We use the statement 'Work Hard - Be Kind' to underpin this ethos in our day-to-day work.
Our vision is to ensure all our students achieve a good career through university or equivalent training. Our high aspirations combine the key strands of strong achievement, employability skills and consideration towards others which is summed up in our motto 'work hard be kind. These principles, which guide our school community, enable our students to reach this goal and be well rounded citizens who are highly desired by higher education and employers.
